Summary

Bio

First appearing in Final Fight as one of the bosses of the Mad Gear Gang, Abigail has left his life of crime behind to run a small garage in Metro City named "Abigail's Scrap Metal" as a law abiding citizen. The two Ken's tall Canadian is also currently working with several former gang members including J, Axl, and Roxy. The former Final Fight protags seem less than interested in letting him be however...


Why Pick Abigail?

With some of the slowest walk speed, slowest dash, and slowest buttons in the game Abigail is not for players looking for an agile character. Because of this and his only Armored.png move beginning on frame 3, being forced to play defensively as Abigail can be frustrating. To make up for this however Abigail also has the highest health, some of the largest ranged buttons, and some of the largest damage output. One stray crush Counter.png crHP or stand HP with V-Trigger can easily do 60-70% damage, and it's never safe for the opponent to assume they have a life lead against him. While he's similar to Zangief in the walk them down grappler mindset, one important difference is while he has a command grab it is not nearly as scary as Gief, and is not a great choice if you want to "churn butter". However if you love to put fear into your opponent, are comfortable with slow and deliberate play, and giggle at the sight of an opponent's health bar melting away, Abigail is a great pick.

V Skill 1

Hungabee is a 3f parry. There are two versions: a standing and a crouching parry. The standing works against any standing and aerial attacks, while the crouching only works on crouching state moves (meaning crMP's and such can be parried with the Low.png version as well). On a successful parry he sends the opponent backwards in a spinning state allowing combos afterwards with crHP or crHK at further ranges. if an air attack is parried, he can follow up with EX Giant Flip or HP Abigail Smash. He gains V-Gauge on a successful parry. If the parry whiffs it leaves him in a Counter.png hit state.

V Skill 2

C'mon, Spare Tire is a weird projectile-like move. Abigail summons a tire on screen. The tire can be hit by Abigail with any move. The trajectory and speed the tire moves at depends on the move he used to hit the tire. The tire can be hit back by the opponent, but it won't have a hitbox. The tire is SLOW, and there's almost no situation where you can get it out on screen without being hit due to the massive end lag, though you can thankfully Cancel.png into it from EX Abigail Punch. The tire has many applications but is held back by how hard it is to get it out in neutral without taking damage or a knockdown. If you somehow do get it out, Abigail can follow behind it, basically granting him a free approach. The opponent can try and challenge Abigail, but will likely get hit by the tire.

V Trigger 1

Max Power is a 3 bar V-Trigger allows Abigail to charge his HP, crHP, b+HP, and f+HP punches. While charging Abigail has 1 hit of armor at the beginning, then 100 hits of armor towards the end of the move (around 30f on most). At fully charged they will all cause an armor break. At level 2 and level 3 they each gain different properties. HP will cause a Crumple.png state allowing follow-up combos, Abigail Blaster can reflect back EX projectiles at level 2 and any projectiles (include moves like Ed's V-Trigger 1) at level 3, and Abigail Twist has a higher juggle potential allowing more damaging combos. Because of Abigail's long range and Critical Arts always causing at least 50% damage scaling, Abigail can quickly rack up large damage even on a guard break. In addition to the buffs to his heavies, it passively increases all damage Abigail does by 15% and gives Abigail 1 hit of armor during his Nitro Charge on f3 and 3 hits of armor on f1 for his EX Nitro Charge.

V Trigger 2

Hybrid Charge is a 2 bar V-Trigger that gives Abigail a new special move, Metro Crash. Metro Crash is a fast moving tackle that causes Abigail to vroom forward. It can be canceled into from certain specials such as Abigail Punch for more damage and better oki. While charging Metro Crash, Abigail has 99 hits of armor making it near impossible to break through outside of CA's and throws. At level 1 and 2 Abigail loses his armor while charging forward after the button is released, at level 3 he has 2 hits of armor and causes a guard break. Because of how Abigail leans forward while charging it is possibly to jump over him at longer ranges. This is a good V-Trigger however V-Trigger 1 is so strong it is hard to recommend using it instead. This is an incredibly powerful V-Trigger and his go-to in most cases.
