Introduction

Elena hasn't been the same since Deejay abducted her and lost her in the beat. Now she's out for revenge but she's having a good time.


Elena is a unique neutral and mixup character who relies on her 214X Dance rekka to combo, pressure, and mix the opponent. On a base level, Elena sports the same normals that made her terrifying in Ultra, with her extremely fast and plus 2LP and long range 2MP and 2HK, and her fast and far 6MK overhead. She sports a wide variety of anti-airs as well, and an extremely good anti-air and reversal with 236P Scratch Wheel. She has a great dash and backdash as well, and a strong jump arc, allowing her to remain mobile and safely poke the opponent while buffering into her Dance vortex.

Dance is Elena's defining feature, and the core of her offense. Each of her 214 specials is a Dance move. Each Dance move can cancel to other Dance moves up to three times, including themselves. Dance moves can also cancel to Rhino Horn and Scratch Wheel, with the exception of 214MK Slide Dance, and all cancel to supers and 214PP Dodge Dance, regardless of how many you chained previously. Dance has great potential on offense with 214HK Smash Dance being a fast and airborne overhead, 214LK Sweep Dance being a long reaching launching low, and 214LP Leg Whip Dance being safe on block. 214MP Pull Dance vacuums to make sure these followups stay threatening and to help with confirms, and 214MK Slide Dance is a long reaching low profile slide that immediately starts her offense and is a hard knockdown ender for her combos. 214HP Launch Dance is the core of her combo theory as well. Elena's whole gameplan starts and ends with Dance.

Elena's main weakness is also Dance. Dance is the core of her mix, but this means an opponent privy to how Dance functions will be able to react to your offense much easier. While you can end safely regardless, Elena has no way to push her turn again once she enters Dance, and every Dance move besides Leg Whip Dance is punishable on block. If an opponent blocks you out, they can often net a punish for it. Elena is also on the lower health side, though she isn't in the lowest bracket. 214PPP Healing is still quite strong, and can be used in combos now as well, but a good punish in Remix will do more than enough to negate the health she regenerates.

Elena is a straightforward neutral character who can dance all over her opponents on offense and wall them out with strong anti-airs. She's great if you're looking for a simple character who doesn't require too much effort to play offense or net high damage with.

Strengths Weaknesses
  • Dance Moves: Elena's defining feature. A variety of canned mixups, combo tools, and neutral options that all cancel into each other and her other specials as well.
  • Neutral: Elena has more than enough fast and long range buttons to keep opponents in check, and a wide variety of strong anti-airs to stop them from jumping, making it hard to approach her at all.
  • Meter Usage: Elena has plenty of strong EX moves and supers that keep her threatening with resources. She gets strong anti-fireball, extremely high damage,
  • Can't Stop Dancing: Once Elena starts a Dance string, she doesn't have many ways to end it and keep her turn without taking a risk or spending a resource. Her reliance on Dance for offense as well makes it a bit more obvious what she's going for, making opponents with strong defense feel hard to crack open.
