Street Fighter (1987)/Mike

From SuperCombo Wiki

"Ha ha ha, I'm strong!"
Mike is a non-playable character in the first Street Fighter game as one of the ten CPU Fighters.
Heavyweight boxer Mike spent some time in prison for robbery. During his time there, he learnt to box. When he was set free, he started to look for fights in order to raise money to help the poor in addition to contributing to his community by teaching children how to box. He loves his family and has a good relationship with his sister who is five years younger than him.

Though unplayable in the vanilla build, he has been made playable in the SF1++ hack. Mike is a simple but odd character, having overwhelming strengths and crippling weaknesses. The lack of a jump attack makes his spacing difficult, and his range is lackluster. His best features are his dangerous damage and strong movement, having arguably the best wavedash in the game. His lack of a jump attack and mediocre range, however, means he gets walled out in a lot of matchups. The key to becoming great with Mike is making the most of his limited ability and scrutinizing your opponent to find your openings.

Mike has the lowest move variety in the entire game, with only four attacks in his entire kit and zero, yes, you read that right, zero jumping attacks. To make matters worse, one of these moves is factually obsoleted by another attack Mike has. Without any more room for duds, it's a miracle that two of Mike's attacks are among the best in the game.

In SF1++, Mike is selected by holding Mp.png and Hk.png at the title screen or VS. Screen and pressing Start.
