Introduction

Prior to his conversion to a cyborg, Smoke was Sub-Zero's closest ally and a hidden presence in the second tournament. This version can be accessed from character select: pick Smoke and hold B, HP, HK, BLK and Run simultaneously until the match begins.

Players who are familiar with Scorpion will find that Human Smoke has everything he has plus an additional launching string and faster move speed, making him a strictly better version of the character. Thus, high combo damage is Human Smoke's specialty, with 2 good conversions and/or enough practice with relaunches making him a killing machine and a solid contender for the top tier.

Biography

In his human form, Smoke was a lethal assassin working for the Lin Kuei. But when they decided to automate their ninjas, Smoke is caught in the middle. He became a cyborg assassin, whose human form would exist as a memory forever more.

  • Great Rushdown: Human Smoke's pressure consists of kara jabs, mid launchers, crossup jump kicks with Air Throw buffers and Teleports.
  • Great Runaway: Human Smoke can use Teleport to reset spacing if the opponent gets too close.
  • Male Ninja Normals: Male Ninjas have a great LP, HP, HK, RH and Uppercut.
  • High Combo Damage: Human Smoke generally does 50-100% off any hit.
  • Universal Relaunch: Human Smoke can relaunch every character in the game no matter what.
  • Corner Traps Easily: Human Smoke's Spear is great for setting up corner traps.
  • Teleport: Teleport allows Human Smoke to escape corners and run jab pressure.
  • Air Throw: Air throws are generally great. Human Smoke's Air Throw does 7% unscaled damage at the end of every combo. Buffer air throw before every jump kick Teleport in case the opponent tried to jump.
  • Fast Walk Speed: Human Smoke has the fastest walk speed in the game besides Noob Saibot. He walks back faster than many characters walk forward and vice versa.
  • LK, HK, Sweep Punish: Human Smoke can punish LK, HK and unsafe Sweeps on block with Spear. Human Smoke's Spear will not punish Female Ninja's and Liu Kang's Sweep due to low hurtboxes.
  • Great Anti Airs: Human Smoke can anti normal jump attacks with HP, HK, Uppercut and RH. If RH is done at the edge of the screen, Teleport can be juggled after for a full combo. Scorpion can anti air crossups with air throw or reset neutral with Teleport.
  • Male Ninja Hitbox: The Male Ninja hurtbox is the status quo for UMK3 combos. Expect most combos to work against you.
  • Poor Throw: The Male Ninja throw is negative on hit. At worst, it is universally punishable by uppercut in the corner.
