Combos

General notes:

  • In Max Mode moves have more pushback, so some combos won't work the same. Most notably for Kyo, you cannot do two 2Bs into a 2A, and cl.C into 236D will only work at the corner, at midscreen it will miss even if do a cross-up or you don't do a jump-in.
  • It's worth noting that cr.B,clC link is much eaiser in this game compared to KOF98

kyo's most damaging meterless low confirm.

easy damaging bnb. this combo doesn't work standing on the following characters: benimaru, robert, yuri, leona, ralf, clark, athena, kensou, mai, king, chris, orochi chris. it also only works on tall crouchers (i.e yashiro, daimon)

  • (j.X), cl.C, qcf C,hcb C,f.C

standard kyo bnb combo.

  • (j.X), cl.C, qcf.D,D, rdp B / hcb P / qcf C,hcb C,f.C

after upkicks, kyo has alot of options from it. hcb P does the most dmg but can be abit inconsistent, rdp B ends in a hard KND and does alot of stun, qcf C rekka is the most damaging but must be done near the corner for all the follow-ups to connect

  • cl.C, qcf.D,D, qcf A~qcf A, qcf A~qcf A, dp A

a difficult and situational combo the requires you to be near the corner in order for this to work. does do alot of dmg, but overall it's kinda impractical.

very damaging meterless combo that ends in a hard KND

a variation of the combo above. requires some timming for it to work

one of the many infinites in kof 97. kyo's infinites resembles his infamous infinite from kof 95. to do this infinite you have to do the 'whiff normal into special' trick so the next D upkick you do will connect. this can be rather difficult to get consistently but it's not that hard, just keep in mind that you have to delay the cr.A after the 1st qcfD~D

if you've played KOF 98, you'll be familiar with this. still an important combo to learn that more eaiser in this game.

max mode specific combo. whiff canceling the cr.A will allow supers to connect after where it otherwise wouldn't. deals alot of dmg.
