Introduction

Despite his menacing appearance and head gang-leader status at Gedo High, Daigo values duty, honor, and commitment to his brothers-in-arms above all else. Even more so, his thoughts are usually with his younger sister, Akira. in Nekketsu Seisyun Nikki 2, Daigo is often seen participating in school activities, as well as cheering on the competing schools in events such as the Tai-P battle in the spirit of sportsmanship. While unplayable until Nekketsu Seisyun Nikki 2, Daigo originally appeared in Rival Schools: United by Fate as the initial investigator of the recent multi-school kidnappings occurring across Japan. While he is initially successful, defeating Hyo and only walking away with a scar across his eye from Hyo's katana, he's soon ambushed once again by Hyo, and brainwashed to serve as his subordinate. He is then later rescued by Akira with the help of her newfound Gedo High friends, Edge and Gan. In Project Justice, it seems as though Daigo is acting suspiciously violent after his long training hiatus- ordering his gang to attack various schools. Has he had a change of heart? Or is there something more sinister at play?...

Daigo can be seen in some respects as " Gan+". His simple Hp.png Phoenix Fist Follow-Ups deal out good damage with little execution, while Lp.png Phoenix Fist acts as an effective feint and poking tool to cover the mid-range. Phoenix Fire can also be used from deceptive ranges; causing knockdowns where the opponent may not be expecting them. Unfortunately, all that strength comes at the cost of being painfully slow at times, with some recoveries being exceptionally long and begging to be TC'd. Having such small combo routes also means that he builds very little meter when he is able to make connections. The choice between Daigo and Wild Daigo is usually a matter of preference as well, as they have less differences compared to other character variants. Daigo players certainly have it easier than Gan, but will still have to pay close attention to their risk-reward choices, and probably keep a Guts support assist hiding in their Team Composition to fill in the gaps!

Strengths Weaknesses
  • Good damage, low execution.
  • Not quite a vortex character, but does have many options for surprising knockdowns.
  • Comparable enough to Wild Daigo that selection is a matter of preference.
  • Many good moves have a painfully slow recovery.
  • Short combo routes means little opportunity to build meter on his own.
    • Can be remedied by keeping a Support Assist as a secondary!
