X-Ray Vision

X-Ray Attacks are the most powerful moves in the game and deal the most damage. They require all three bars of the X-Ray Meter to be filled in order to perform. Activating them is as easy as pressing Front Kick, Back Kick, and Block all at the same time. As soon as the X-Ray Attack is performed, your character will perform a starting attack. If this starting attack connects, then the character goes into a animated sequence involving a lot of bone crushing and damage to internal organs of the opponent. X-Ray Attacks behave mostly like Special Attacks. They can be canceled into from the same Normal Moves that can cancel into Special Attacks.

However, be warned: though X-Ray Attacks do a lot of damage up front in combos, once you reach the tail end of a combo their damage gets scaled considerably. So once you get a combo going with a lot of hits, you're almost always better off saving your X-Ray Meter unless the scaled X-Ray is exactly what is needed to finish the opponent off.

X-Ray Attacks come in many different forms. Some X-Ray Combos can easily be used in the middle of combos for big damage, such as Sub-Zero's Deep Freeze. Others, such as Liu Kang's Chin Up, allows you to combo even more hits afterwards. And Johnny Cage's X-Ray Attack, the Ball Buster, is actually a counter move that requires the opponent to strike it for it to activate.
