B-list celebrity, recipient of no acting awards. Following a string of lowbrow direct-to-VHS sequels to Ninja Mime, Johnny Cage’s career peaked at the age of 28. Now, he fights against all odds to save Earthrealm and prove that he’s an even braver hero in real life than on the silver screen.

Blessed with a small blocking hitbox.

Strengths Weaknesses
  • Footsies King: A fast walk speed and long ranged buttons (kicks in particular) mean he excels at whiff punishes which can convert into combos;
  • Staggers for Days: His pressure strings and pokes are very safe on block, keeping the opponent guessing on strike/throw;
  • Safety Dance: Amplifying Straight Forceball or Rising Star helps him stay non-committal on offense and build up chip damage;
  • Baller: Straight Forceball being a high means its biggest boon is its speed but equipping Low/High Forceball boosts his zoning with harder to avoid projectiles;
  • Small Blocking Hurtbox: He doesn't have to hold high attacks in a lot of strings most other characters are jailed into;
  • The Comeback Kid: With proper execution, his dash-cancellable Fatal Blow gives him an immense comeback factor, either giving him an extra opportunity for pressure or converting into lots of unbreakable damage on hit.
  • Slowing Down With Age: Long-ranged as they may be, his buttons tend to have long start-up, which compounds with his next issue;
  • No Real Mids: His best strings start High, meaning neutral ducking opponents can ruin his day. His mid F4,4 starts at 14 frames meaning he can't contest some unsafe moves very well either;
  • Meter Hungry: Beyond needing meter to extend pressure, Rising Super Star requiring a Defensive Gauge to amplify on block means he has to do without Breakaway more than a lot of other characters;
  • Honesty: Lacks any overhead outside of Amp Rising Star, jump or short hop meaning he has to play strike/throw to open people up;
  • Bad Krushing Blow Game: Outside of universal D2, his Krushing Blows are difficult to use at best (Throwing Shades, Nut Punch) or straight up jokes at worst (F4,3).
