Combos

Combo starters

As Petshop you have many ways to get into your combos. Some of the main important starters are

  • 662A + ]X[ - The classic UB starter. This will link into 5C and then further into a combo.
  • 665C [BC] - A good starter for rushing in. 5C has a large hitbox and can beat out a fairly good amount of attacks.
  • 3C - Using 3C as a whiff punish to get close to your opponent is great. When you manage to hit it, you can combo into any attack except another 3C. Just learn when it is and isn't safe to use.
  • ]X[ - Whether it's on block or just catching a nearby opponent, dunking an icicle on their head is an excellent way to lead into a combo.

These are not your only starters, but these will lead into most combos.

Beginner Combos

Pet Shop Basic Combos by Vyon

665c [BC] 665a 5a 5a 5a ]BC[ 2s 236s (mash)

Petshop baby combo. After 236s you can either 236aa or before 2s ends start charging [BC] for UB oki.

665c [BC] 665a 5a 5a 5a ]BC[ 236aa

Beginner combo that you can start from a flying normal.

Intermediate Combos

[X] 662A + ]X[ 5C [BC] 665A 5A 5A 5A ]C[ 3C ]B[ 1S 236S (30-hit ABCS mash) 236AA/Oki setup

Petshop's main BNB, starting with a UB setup. It'll do most of your opponents health if you finish with a 236AA, and likely kill them if you opt for his okizeme after 236S instead.

[X] 662A + ]X[ 5C [BC] 665A 5A 5A 5A ]C[ 3C ]B[ 665C [BC]...

Petshop's optimal icicle loop. IPS starts being able to kick in at 9 hits, meaning the combo can drop on the second rep due to this. It may be better to avoid loops and finish after one rep.

Advanced Combos

[BC] (Wait) 662B + ]B[ xx 236B ]C[ 665C [BC] 665A 5A 5A 5A ]C[ 3C ]B[ 1S 236S (30-hit ABCS mash) 236AA/Oki setup

An alternate UB starter. If you leave out "1S 236S (30-hit ABCS mash)" you can use this combo in the petshop mirror on a standing opponent for very high damage.

[X] 662A + ]X[ 5C [BC] 665A 5A 5A 5A ]C[ 3C ]B[ xx 214[BC] !SC 665A 5A 5A 5[A] ]C[ 3C ]B[ 1S ]A[ 236S (30-hit ABCS mash) 236AA/Oki setup

A combo showing a 214AA !SC extension. On small stand gauge characters (Jotaro, Vanilla Ice, Chaka) you should leave out the 3C before the 214AA.

[X]662A +]X[ 5C [BC] 665A 5A 5A 5[A] ]C[ 3C ]B[ 1S ]A[ 41236S [BC] 665A 5A 5[A] ]C[ 3C ]B[ 1S ]A[ 236S (30-hit ABCS mash) 236AA/Oki setup

A combo that uses the 41236S extender, mostly for style but still worth noting. Keep in mind you must delay the 41236S slightly otherwise you will hit the opponent too early and launch them or the game will take the input as 236S

665C [BC] 665A 5A 5A 5A ]C[ ]B[ 214AA 665C [BC] 665A 5A 5A 5A ]C[ 3C ]B[ 1S 236S (30-hit ABCS mash) 236AA/Oki setup

A TOD using 214AA to extend the combo on crouching opponents, as if the opponent is crouching they will not be knocked down by 214AA

662A + ]X[ 5C [BC] 665A 5A 5A 5[A] ]C[ (walk forward) 5[C] ]B[ (walk forward) 5[B] ]A[ 236AA

A corner-only bnb ender that allows you to get some extra damage

662A + ]X[ 5C [BC] 665A 5A 5A 5[A] ]C[ (walk forward) 5[C] ]B[ (walk forward) 5[B] ]A[ (walk forward) 5[A]...

An optimal corner-only loop

236S

One of the main important things to know about 236S is that you can hold and create icicles during it. Depending on your position, the icicle that is favourable to hold may change. For example

  • After 1S - Hold [A] while mashing BCS
  • After 2S - Hold [B] while mashing ACS
  • After 3S - Hold [C] while mashing ABS
  • After 1S in corner - Hold [ABC] while mashing S
  • After 2S in corner - Hold [BC] while mashing AS

The optimal combo routes to get into 236S are

  • Midscreen: 665C [BC] 665A 5A 5A 5[A] ]C[ 3C ]B[ 1S ]A[ 236S [A] BCS*n ]A[ [B] ACS*n 236AA/Oki Setup. This will give two guaranteed icicles during 236S and allow for a guaranteed 236AA or Oki Setup due to the spacing from the untechable launch from 1S
  • In corner: 665C [BC] 665A 5A 5A 5[A] ]C[ 3C ]B[ 1S ]A[ 236S [ABC] S*n ]ABC[ [BC] AS*n 236AA/Oki Setup. In the corner this will do lots of damage from the extra icicles during 236S. If you plan on doing 236AA rather than the much cooler Oki Setup, hold only [B] after ]ABC[ and release it during 236AA.

Petshop has many other combos not listed above that are possible due to extensions via icicles. The ones listed are just some basic BnBs and combos that you will likely use in matches.
