The generally accepted SSBM Competitive 1v1's Ruleset has six Legal Stages.

1v1 Starter Stages:

• Battlefield
• Dream Land N64
• Fountain of Dreams
• Pokémon Stadium (Often Frozen)
• Yoshi's Story

1v1 Counterpick Stages:

• Final Destination

2v2's

The generally accepted SSBM Competitive 2v2's Ruleset has five Legal Stages. Fountain of Dreams is omitted from the normal 1v1's list. Sometimes, Kongo Jungle N64 is available as a Counterpick Stage.

2v2 Starter Stages:

• Battlefield
• Dream Land N64
• Final Destination
• Pokémon Stadium (Often Frozen)
• Yoshi's Story

2v2 Counterpick Stages:

• Kongo Jungle N64 (Often Banned)
