If you were to ever play Fatal Fury 1 in any sense and tried to have fun competitive matches with your friend, Andy makes that virtually impossible. He is ''extremely'' broken in FF1 and it's for one very simple reason: Zaneiken. With roughly 11 frames of startup, it sounds slow enough, but it knocks down on hit, gives Andy okizeme, recovers very quickly, and is roughly +12 on block, meaning he can follow up with another Zaneiken. If done immediately, by the time the opponent recovers from block Andy is already performing the next active Zaneiken. It's active for a while, too. By using this one move alone, it's functionally always Andy's turn with a theoretical infinite block string. Its only downside is that in non-Japanese versions of the game, you have to hold directly back to charge the move, meaning Andy can't keep his position as well as opposed to if he had Japanese inputs. It is possible for the opponent to stop Zaneiken, but more often than not this is a trade that goes in Andy's favor anyways. If Andy gets hit out of Zaneiken, then it's human error on Andy's part. The rest of Andy's specials aren't much to write home about, but they do an okay job at fighting. However, that's never the reason you'd pick him, as Zaneiken completely shuts down both Terry and Joe by itself with no counter to it that he is worth banning.

In 2 player matches, whoever is player 2 immediately wins before the match even starts because of the 2P cursor starting on Andy. Since the 1P and 2P cursors cannot overlap, then there is no reason for player 2 to swap off of Andy. It's Fatal Fury 1, so it's not a competitively viable game to begin with, but if you're struggling to beat arcade mode at all or happen to find yourself in PVP matches with someone, pick Andy. You automatically win, except maybe against Billy and Geese.

Move List Showcase

Andy is one of Jeff Bogard's adopted sons and the younger brother of Terry. When Andy was nine years old, Geese Howard killed Jeff. Andy decided to perfect his own martial art over at Japan to get revenge against Geese and to differentiate himself from his brother. During his time in Japan, Andy learned the Shiranui-ryuu Ninjutsu (Shiranui Style Ninja Technique) and a form of empty-handed combat called Koppouken by Hanzo Shiranui. A decade after Jeff's death, Andy returned America, specifically to South Town, where he reunited with Terry. After paying respects to Jeff's grave, they encounter Joe Higashi and learn about the King of Fighters tournament hosted by Geese. He enters with them in an attempt to avenge their father, but lost before he reached Geese. When Terry defeated Geese, Andy felt a mixed sense of closure. He soon returned to Japan to continue his training.

If you were to ever play Fatal Fury 1 in any sense and tried to have fun competitive matches with your friend, Andy makes that virtually impossible. He is extremely broken in FF1 and it's for one very simple reason: Zaneiken.
