Dan is arguably the worst character in the game. But that does not mean he cannot win. His LK Dan Kick pressure is amazing and can easily lockdown opponents who do not understand the move or underestimate dan. His gadouken builds meter really well from a distance and while you will not win fireball wars, you can still cancel out the fireballs without have to worry about jumping towards your opponent to avoid them. His Dan Kicks are all essentially safe except for maybe EX and even then some characters cannot punish or most players will not look to punish it, his uppercut or Koryuken has decent invincibility and damage easily anti airing especially EX. His legendary taunt can easily bait opponents into attacking you, whereupon you can immediately cancel into Ultra and catch them surprise. Ultra 1 does decent damage and travels a nice distance although it does not Armor Break yet. Ultra 2 serves as a mega gadouken, it will not travel full screen but it will eat up or beat out most projectiles and FADC into it still works well. His weaknesses are there however, most of his normals are subpar, and he cannot compete at a long range at all. He relies on Dan Kick a little too much and opponents with matchup knowledge will not be caught by his gimmicks. Oh and his Dan Kicks armor break which blow up a lot of armored moves and focus attacks. He can perform well with strong fundamentals and keeping your opponent close but he still lacks strongs normals or more reliable specials.
