In a nutshell In the original release of MVC3, Wolverine was one of many characters considered top tier by players, and it showed. With excellent mobility, invincibility on many of his moves, a Dive Kick so powerful it has seen more hatred than Yun's, and being able to easily mash out hit confirms with little to no recovery, it's no secret that Wolverine was hands-down the best character in the game. In Ultimate, many of these problems have been rectified, but Wolverine is still a very viable character. While a new move has been added to prevent mashing and scrubbiness, his Dive Kick's hitbox and properties have been changed, and much of his invincibility has been taken out, his mobility has been left untouched. With the right assists and a good grasp of fundamentals, Wolverine can still show that he's the best at what he does - messing with the opponent's head with ambiguous cross-ups and overwhelming speed.
